An extensive remodeling and refurbishment of a six storey private house in Little Venice, London.
“Blackwell Projects Ltd. undertook a complete renovation of a six-storey town house for my husband and I in Little Venice during 2011. Our architect, Alex Greenway, who had worked with the firm on other projects, recommended Blackwell Projects. The project involved quite complex structural work on the lower floor as we opened up the space and a high specification refurbishment throughout…”
The scheme involved a sensitive, contemporary extension at the rear of the property, creating a large open-plan family living area with a dramatic double-height space between ground and lower ground floor levels. To achieve the open plan scheme to the lower ground floor, the structural steel design saw the internal load bearing walls in their entirety, supported by a complex temporary propping scheme during steel installation. Original features such as the stone staircase and plaster cornice moldings were carefully restored. Non functioning window shutters were replicated with working replacements. Dinesen solid timber floors installed on 3 levels and marble lined bathrooms maintained the properties existing charm and character. Extensive data and AV networking complimented the contemporary overall finish.
